Last week a handful of Paupers went out for some plein air painting. We chose the Canal Street Bridge on 18th and it was quite an eventful day. This work is dedicated Eric, one of the true Paupers who reside under the viaduct.

Lucky 7 it is!

Fantastic night last night, breaking in our brand-spanking-newly painted floor and background wall color (specifically to make the flesh tones pop) with Corrunda who was an absolute vision of beauty. Old acquaintances reconnected from 40 years past as we welcomed 7 new guild members (Keith, Lauren, Gabrielle, June, Margaret, Andres and Kate) each with a fantastic style of their own to add to our collective creative space. We have some interesting poses set up for this fall quarter including a couple 2 model sessions in November!

      

Tintypes done right!

SPECIAL THANKS to Doug Hanson for another tremendously successful event. The photos were out of this world. He will be returning in November to coincide with our Holiday Artstravaganza for Holiday Portraits. Be on the lookout for our pinhole camera workshop hosted by Doug as well.

Doug Hanson Tintype photo shoot & Paupers Art Fire Sale

Paupers Art Guild is pleased to announce the return of Photographer Doug Hanson for a 2 day shoot of his amazing Wet Plate Collodian Process Tintypes to coincide with our 1^st Annual Art Fire Sale.

On Saturday, August 22 and Sunday, August 23 from 12-5 PM, Doug will be set up in studio to take pictures in 2 sizes. Tintypes will be offered at 4" x 5" for $30 and 8" x 10" (ideal for group or family portraits) for $60. The entire process, from set up and shooting to developing and finishing the Plate takes 20 mins, so we will be taking 3 reservations per hour. Though walk-ins are welcomed, reserved time slots will take precedence, so call or email ahead to reserve your shooting time. Please feel free to bring in your own costuming as well.

During the photo shoot, our walls will be loaded with affordable drawings and paintings from several of our guild artists for your purchasing pleasure. Unframed finished art will be available from the $ 15 to the $ 150 level.

I can't have another bite. . . .

But sir! It's wafer thin! That scene was running through all our minds last night as we chowed down on WAY too much awesome food. Though SOME people think that Baklava is a ski mask, in actuality, it is a sweet. We finished off the drawing season in a solid fashion, Courtney was absolutely fantastic and the work shows it.  I don't care what anybody says, warp drive is here to stay! See y'all in September.

The dilemma of the complexity of radio turning on-ing. . .

. . .was but one of the things that vexed us so last night as we welcomed new guild member Jack. Also, how to silently role the dice and what to do when some random dude just donates $ 10 to the cause. Pray tell, doth our demeanor and presentation call out: "Destitute are we!"? Post sessions shenanigans include what is most probably the pinnacle of our exquisite corpse play. Next Thursday is our final session before we break until September. There shall be food (at least $ 10 worth!). Thus sayeth the Pauper.

We welcomed fresh off the graduation block Shayna into the guild last night as we kind of just drew and painted silently. Then again there was some spillage of the paint water and serious discussion about the Irish! and Jurassic World! and LOTS of  fan-boy Star Wars creds being volleyed back and forth! Knife Painting too! Jess transforming right before our eyes! Weather, humidity oh my. . .I guess 'twasn't all that silent after all!
